Contaminated well in private house

Most homes in Germany are now connected to drinking water networks. However, at least 700,000 people still obtain their drinking water from their own wells and spring taps. However, many well operators are unaware that these domestic wells, known as "small systems for individual supply" in official German, are subject to the same strict regulations of the Drinking Water Ordinance as the large waterworks.

Regular inspections of wells are mandatory

In order to rule out any health risks from the drinking water produced by the household, it must be tested once a year for contamination and at least every three years for its chemical and physical properties. On one such occasion, a private home in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock was found to have too high a contamination level. The source of the contamination lies outside the drinking water installation, namely in the well connection (piston pump) from which the building draws its drinking water for historical reasons (first house in the region).

The solution

BEULCO disinfection box

We have successfully disinfected the drinking water pipes in the house with the BEULCO disinfection box. However, it is likely that new harmful microorganisms are entering the installation via the actual source of the crisis, the well. The homeowner has therefore decided to connect to the municipal drinking water network, which is now available, and to stop using the well to supply water to the house. Should the bacterial load in the drinking water installation increase again by then, we can remedy the situation quickly and easily with our mobile disinfection box.
